NASP Teacher Conference

On October 25th and 26th I will be going to the NASP Teachers Conference being held at the Alabama 4-H Center. I hope to learn more about the new rules, arrows, techniques, etc.... When I come back, I will hold a team meeting to discuss all the new "stuff" and update you on the season, practice, and meet schedules... Be ready to start practice on November 30th at 6:30 am!!!! Don't miss it... That day will start our long march to a very special and successful season!!!!

New Team Meeting

We will have a team meeting ASAP to go over my expectations, team expectations, rules, practices, etc..... If you have your own bow, start practicing ASAP!!!! Have your 10 meters dialed in and be working hard on your 15 meters by the time we start in December!!!!!!! We will start having meets in Feb. If you are planning on purchasing a bow, once you get one, don't throw away the box, let me check the bow out and then I will set it up for you.

Here is the 2010/2011 AMS Archery Team

It has been exactly 1 week since I've started this process of picking out the archery team. Over 140 students from AMS tried out for the team this year, and I can honestly say that we have some of the best archers in the nation. I will encourage those who didn't make the team this year, please don't give up. Each year our team will need more and more archers to fill the positions of those who move up to the high school.

Archery News CHECK THE ARCHERY PAGE!!!

Lots of great shooting on Thursday and Saturday!!!!! There were so many 5th-8th graders trying out (over 140), it was a difficult task just to cut the numbers down to 45. I am thrilled because some of our 5th and 6th graders brought their "A" game to claim their spot on the team.

I'm still working on the team roster, so please be patient with me.

Depending on if my wife and I have our baby this week, I may have to "Call back" certain archers to shoot for positions on the team. This may happen this week. If you listen to morning announcements, you will know if and when this will happen by Tuesday or Wednesday. Over all, great day, great shooting for all of our kids at AMS. I'm proud of all of you. Thank you parents for coming out to support your kids and our school programs.

FYI.......

I'm only taking 30 archers from the entire middle school. I'm looking for good attitudes, good grades, willing to make all practices, team players, and archers who are willing to work as hard as they can to be the best they can be.

Our team goals include being strong Christian witnesses, improving our scores from last year, and beating every school in the nation (including high schools)

We will have 6:30 am morning practices starting in December and finish the season in mid-May with the national archery meet in Louisville, KY.

Practices will last from 3 - 4:30 after school. NO LATE PRACTICES, I have a baby at home to take care of now. Each practice will be filled with shooting.... very little down time. There will be early practices during January and February also.

If you make the team... It would be a great idea to purchase your own bow to shoot with during the season. That way you can practice at home also.
